Reception Reports
This feature aims at showing on the map the dish sizes that allow a good reception of a beam,
updated upon your own reception reports. Your specific comments for each beam are also available under the map.
In order to post your own reception reports you must define your position and dish size on the Profile page

2009-07-30 23:08:55 | deepbluesky (49N-9.3E,0cm) ? Oh i see athensat, so the fluctuation of C/N is so big on some frequencies of 3A that one cannot recommend a certain size anymore for stable reception. This sounds similar to Astra 2D. No wonder, same type of satellite and 3A works with less power per transponder. The more south easterly coverage doesn't compensate this so far outside the footprint. I'm very glad 3B will take over soon. Regarding Astra 1F which gladly today is empty, yes i am aware of the very sharp edge over the Pelopponnese but this is also history. |
2009-07-28 19:53:16 | athensat (-,180cm) ? deepbluesky as i told you Astra 3A has a very strange behavior.It is not stable satellite,is in
the end of its career.Normally and according to
the fingerprints it should be easier but its not.
It is strange also the attitude of Astra 1F.105cm
dish was enough in Patra. In Athens the limit to
receive was 240cm.That is only 200km..So i think
300cm solid dish is ok in Athens for Astra 3A.
Thank God SES ASTRA has changed marketing policy
and it should be easier to receive satellites
all over Europe. |
2009-07-28 18:40:10 | deepbluesky (49N-9.3E,0cm) ? athensat, we all hope that 3B will have a paneuropean coverage as been said by SES Astra and not a hidden spotbeam besides that for the Middle East. There have been some few reports for 3A and the stronger 1E at http://www.satleo.gr/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7053 . Now since you have experience with Athens, you say that some transponders are coming on 3m. This means not all, what i had expected. But you don't know which size one needs for all transponders 24/7, do you ? Further on i do believe that the microadjustment of skew is extremely important for this satellite. |

2009-07-28 14:36:03 | athensat (-,180cm) ? deepbluesky for Astra 3A the situation in Athens
is so and so.Some tranponders is coming with 240cm and other with 270 even 300cm dish. The
arrival of Astra 3B is going to solve the problem. |
